TOE SHOE FUND
New York City Ballet plays an important role in the cultural life of our community and of each person who experiences the thought-provoking and moving performances that define our Company. But, the same speed, beauty and athleticism that make our performances so thrilling require us to buy over 8,500 pairs of toe shoes every year. New York City Ballet dancers can go through as many as 40 to 50 pairs in a single performance!The Toe Shoe Fund was created to help cover the Company’s annual costs for toe shoes and ensures that New York City Ballet continues to bring spectacular performances to our audiences year after year.

COSTUMES
Costumes play an integral part in bringing ballets to life on stage. They accentuate the ebb and flow of the dancers’ movement, make a statement and set the mood for the ballet.
Costumes are subject to a great deal of wear and tear—from the inside and out – and require many pairs of hands that spend countless hours cutting, stitching, trimming, fitting, and ironing the hundreds of costumes that “perform” with the dancers each season.
