NYCB Dancers

There is one question that New York City Ballet is asked more than any other. That question is, “How do I become a New York City Ballet dancer?” Of course, it takes great discipline and dedication, years of training with good teachers, talent, musicality, a quick mind and beautiful body proportions. There is one other key ingredient that almost all NYCB dancers share. Historically, 95% of NYCB dancers study at the School of American Ballet, the official school of New York City Ballet, before being invited to join the Company. Most begin their careers at NYCB as apprentices.
